GOV.UK sets out Winter Fuel Payments of £100–£300 for winter 2026 to 2027 for people born on or before 27 June 1960, plus Pension Credit and a £150 Warm Home Discount for eligible households.

Data as of: GOV.UK Winter Fuel Payment and Pension Credit pages checked 28 October 2026.

Official GOV.UK guidance for winter 2026 to 2027 says that if you were born on or before 27 June 1960 you could get between £100 and £300 to help with heating bills — the Winter Fuel Payment. Most eligible people receive it automatically; payments are due in November or December 2026.

If your total income is over £35,000, HMRC may take the Winter Fuel Payment back. Check the GOV.UK pages for the exact rules, opt-out options and Scotland’s separate Pension Age Winter Heating payment.

Pension Credit gives extra money to people over State Pension age on a low income and can unlock further help, including Housing Benefit in some cases and help with NHS costs if you receive the Guarantee Credit part.

GOV.UK also notes the Warm Home Discount — a £150 discount on energy bills if you get Pension Credit or live in a low-income household that meets the scheme rules. Always apply or check eligibility on the official pages; schemes and thresholds change.
